Sweet Sweet Victory
Both a song featured as Spongebob's go to Superbowl halftime show song and a saying many of my teammates as well as I uttered after Saturdays overtime win against the Alfred University Saxons. A very chilly Saturday in western New York saw the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern face off against the Saxons of Alfred University, a game that both teams were very excited for as their last meeting was seen by many as controversial, more than one person wrote the game off as a fluke claiming we "snuck up on them". This time around both teams were ready to set the record straight and prove that it either was or wasn't a fluke.
The game started with the polar bears going on an unanswered four goal run, taking a 4-0 Ohio Northern lead into the second quarter. for many it looked like this game was well within the hands of the polar bears, and with the polar bears continuing the trend netting a fifth goal early in the second quarter to put the bears up 5-0. But the Saxons weren't going to give in that easily. The Saxons finally answer back with their first goal of the game just under over five minutes into the second quarter making it a 5-1 ball game.
That first goal giving the Saxons the spark they needed as they responded with three more goals before halftime making it a 5-4 game at half with the advantage to the Polar Bears. Both teams knew the second half would be very physical and competitive and both teams were prepared. The second half would not disappoint.
The third quarter featured a defensive battle with only one goal being scored in the third quarter tying the game at 5 a piece. finally the game came down to the fourth quarter, with the Saxons and Polar Bears trading goals each team leading during the quarter. With the game clock hitting zero the score was tied at 8 each and there would need to be extra lacrosse to decide this game.
Overtime was short and sweet as it took only 13 seconds for the Polar Bears to net the game winner. A great game by both teams and a great game for the fans I will always have fond memories of taking down the Alfred University Saxons not once in my college career but twice.

Congratulations on the win! I'm glad you were able to beat the Alfred University Saxons, especially since they were trying to take away you're original victory by saying it was a fluke. It annoys me when people say stuff like that. The overtime makes it so much better since you just crushed them in 13 seconds. Good job to you and your teammates!
