A Record Breaking Weekend

This past weekend marked the start of OAC play for the Ohio Northern Men’s Lacrosse team, this year we opened conference play against the Wilmington Quakers. Wilmington came into the game with a record of 1-4 while the polar bears entered the game with 7-1 record.
The polar bears started the game off very quickly with racking up ten goals in the first quarter of the game and quickly made it obvious that the polar bears meant business. Saturday’s game was a historic game for the polar bears as they broke a number of school records during the game as well as many benchmarks for individual players.

One of the many records broken on was the team scoring record, the final score of the games was   26-2 both the highest scoring game in Ohio Northern Men’s Lacrosse history and the greatest margin of victory in the short history of the program. These records broke the previous of 25 total points and a 22 point margin of victory set last season in a 25-3 victory over Calvin College. Another impressive stat from Saturday’s competition is the number of goal scorers at 18 different players, as well as the first thirteen goals all being scored by different players.

After Saturday’s contest Ohio northern is tied with Capitol, Otterbein, John Carrol, and Marietta all currently having a 1-0 record in conference play. The bears will be back in action on Saturday at 1 o’clock in Aliance Ohio against the Raiders of Mount Union and are looking to extend the win streak to 8 straight wins.
